The Nyla Handbag PDF Pattern Has Classy Versatility

With a classic handbag silhouette highlighted by on-trend features, The Nyla Handbag Digital Pattern is sure to be a hit with designer-inspired bagmakers. The optional pieced exterior (front or both sides) is a great place to showcase a special fabric and topstitching skills. Or make the exterior as one solid piece for an understated look. The hidden strap connectors add an updated look as well as the flared sides.

It should be noted that all of our testers used vinyl or cork in the construction of their Nyla. Due to the hidden strap connectors, a fabric that would fray such as cotton canvas or home decor fabric should not be used on the main exterior. Save those fabrics for the accent strip if desired.

Our tester group once again impressed us with their creativity while making sure the pattern is tip-top in delivering clear instructions and photos. Take a look at the photos and get all the details:

Kellie Toles of Sewful Creations has been testing for KPD for a long time. We were thrilled to have her join us as she is busy with a growing YouTube Channel.

"I used black vinyl from Amazon, yellow faux leather from Bo Dee Oh, and printed vinyl from Your Vinyl Source. My lining is ripstop from Fabric Wholesale Direct. Hardware is from various sources. I stabilized my main panels with Decovil Light. I used Salpa on the side panels, and Decovil Heavy on the base."
Be sure to check out Kellie's YouTube Channel, where you'll find her sew-along of The Nyla Handbag.
We were thrilled to welcome back Keleesha Marley. Her creativity always shines through in her bags and her make of The Nyla was proof.
"I love how this bag came together. I used cork for the exterior and webbing for the straps."

Over our 5 years of pattern designing, Becca Olson has tested all of our patterns!

She used vinyl and hardware from Amazon. (She said that changing her mind four times didn't allow for a lot of shipping time). She purchased the recommended stabilizers from Wawak.

This was Cheryl Shook's second time testing for us. We have long admired her well-made bags and were so happy she was able to join our group.

"I chose to make two different versions simply because I wanted to see how a solid color compared to the original with a center accent piece. I love them both!

The brown Nyla is made with vinyl (JoAnn) and a leather (Tandy) center accent piece. Sky blue interior is Water Repellent Canvas (Your Vinyl Source). I interfaced as instructed.

The white Nyla is all vinyl (My Punkbroidery) with an interior of waterproof canvas in hot pink (Sew Yours) and WRC (YVS) in Candy Roses. Hardware is from various sources. I also added stabilizer to the lining top vinyl pieces.

I like both versions. I chose not to make a long strap for either bag."

We were relieved to hear that Gina Lasseigne's sewing room was back in service for this test, as we missed her on the last one. She also made two bags.

"Another fantastic design.....as per usual. I used Decovil light for the main panels and side panels. WovenFuse was used on the upper main pieces and the lining upper and side uppers. Decovil heavy was used for the bottom. The exteriors on both bags is vinyl. The interior is waterproof canvas.
I absolutely love how wide the opening is for this bag."
A big thank you to our testing group for once again helping us insure our latest pattern is the best it can be!
Are you inspired to make your own Nyla Handbag?
