The Raelyn Bag Trio is Pleated, Compact, and Classy

The Raelyn Bag Trio is Pleated, Compact, and Classy

I never fail to be awed by the tester bags. This group of talented bag makers bring so much to the final pattern with:

  • their expertise in working with fabric and interfacing,
  • the use of attractive hardware,
  • and coordinating everything for a beautiful interpretation of Patricia's intentions.

No matter how many times the two of us proof the pattern for errors, the testers are the ones that work through it and let us know about measurement discrepancies or any assembly problems. Their input is invaluable.

We are proud to share their makes of The Raelyn Bag Trio Digital Pattern, and hope you will check out the links provided to see more of their creativity.

The Raelyn offers three sizes with individual pattern pieces, cut list, and labels. There is no multi-sizing on the pattern pieces. You can clearly cut out your desired size.

Becca Olson of Turtle Trax Too took advantage of the multi-sizing and made "Mom and Me" matching bags for close friends. She used the small and large sizes. Notice the vinyl pocket edging on the interior pocket. Very classy!

The main exterior fabric is a Waverly indoor/outdoor fabric from Walmart. The vinyl is a Fuchsia Variegated Croc from MyPunkBroidery. The heavy interfacing is from Goldstar and Becca substituted batting for the fleece. Her hardware is from Amazon except one zipper pull. That cute flower is from IndoLove Creations.

Becca did an amazing job coordinating her fabrics and sewing her bags and I'm sure her friends will love them!

Sew Special by ZM's Zeiba Monod's adorable bright watermelon medium-sized bag had the tester group pining for warm sunny weather. The cute quilting cotton fabric is from Timeless Treasures. The accent is pink cork, the lining is also quilting cotton, and she interfaced with G700. Notice the two-fabric strap - it really adds a bespoke look.

Be sure to check out Zeiba's Facebook page and her latest endeavor - a beautiful rainbow-colored quilt.

This medium-sized floral beauty is by Kassiah Schern Meyers of Siah Swag Bags. By choosing to make the optional crossbody strap, her bag can function two ways.

Kassiah's vinyl is from BoDeeOh, the floral and inside cotton fabrics are from Hawthorne Supply Co., the zipper tape and pulls are from My Handmade Space, and hardware is from Emmaline Bags and her own company, SiahSwagBags. (Note that she sells all the hardware required for The Raelyn Bag Trio).

Ulrike Puckering of The Busy Sewing Room used some different options on her super cute small-sized bag. Her lightweight denim fabric's design was a real focal point and would not have looked as pretty with pleats. She used "O" rings for her two-fabric shoulder strap which enhances the more casual look.

The navy accent fabric is cotton drill and the lining is pink cotton. All fabrics were interfaced with woven, and she used fleece on the body and Decovil heavy on the gusset.

Ulrike's meticulous craftmanship is done on a Singer 201K.

She's made a perfect bag for everyday.

Ulrike's 14 year old daughter is 5' 7" and this is the small Raelyn Bag

Be sure to check out The Busy Sewing Room on Facebook, too.

This bright yellow and pineapple print bag is so fun! Becca Lorraine of Prismatic always comes up with super cute combos. She also used two fabrics on her shoulder strap and check out the outstanding strap connectors she substituted for the pattern requirements.

This large bag is made with canvas from Over the Selvage, yellow vinyl from MyPunkBroidery, and batik cotton from Joann Fabrics.

This well-made sophisticated bag is by Donna Dickerson. Her pictures show the roominess of the small-sized bag and how much it will hold.

The exterior is cork from Fabric Funhouse and Sunflower Teal cotton linen canvas from Kokka Fabric. She sourced her zippers from My Handmade Space.

A beautiful bag ready for summer!

We welcomed back Nichole Litton of Sew Unique Threads as a tester.

Nichole's small-sized bag is for her daughter with Frozen (TM) themed cotton Lycra and vinyl. The bright blue lining is waterproof canvas. She interfaced with woven and Decovil Lite. The contrast top-stitching is very eye catching and well done.

I'm sure her daughter is thrilled to have her special bag.

Kellie Toles of Sewful Creations made a large bag using Mora faux leather and hardware from Emmaline Bags, cotton fabric from Joann Fabric and zippers from My Handmade Space.

A unique pleated zipper pocket is on the back of the bag. Kellie says it was a lot of fabric to stitch through, but we think the result was worth it!

Check out Sewful Creations on Etsy and see more of Kellie's high-end bags.

This large-sized beauty is by Sue Reed of Dreamscape Studio.  The taupe faux leather accent and faux snakeskin vinyl were from her stash. She used Deocovil light on the gussets side and both Decovil light and heavy on the gusset bottom. The exterior panels are interfaced with Wovenfuse and Decovil light.

The strap is two fabrics and continuous! Sue's "O" rings are from Emmaline Bags and she got the zippers and pulls from Zipper Valley. A very sophisticated bag!

Rebecca Hansen of TwoLeos Design finishes up our tester group with the large-sized Raelyn. Her happy color combination can't help but make you smile and think about summer with the gorgeous coral faux leather from BoDeeOh. The exterior and lining are both Rifle Paper Co. cotton.

Rebecca interfaced the exterior with woven interfacing and Bouncyfirm from Serial Bagmakers. She substituted the Bouncyfirm for Peltex on the exterior gusset, also. The hardware is from Emmaline Bags and the zipper is from Amazon.

Her meticulous attention to detail makes this a bag anyone would be thrilled to carry.
