ABOUT THIS PATTERN:
This simple basic handbag design lends itself well to a variety of styles. Try a delicate fabric for a special event like a wedding or prom; use playful fabrics for a child; or make a casual style and lengthen the straps for a crossbody. The required fabric yardage allows for a longer strap and an extra slip pocket.
Show off your embellishment skills! Make the front panel the star with embroidery, quilted fabric, or a “fussy-cut” special fabric. For the strap use trim, ribbon, braided fabrics, or rope. Instructions for these techniques are not included. Bonus: Templates for a pieced front and Instructions are included.
Features:
Designed for lightweight cotton fabrics and can be made in dressy fabrics like satin, silk, etc.
Includes four shaped pattern pieces, and measurements for the strap.
Uses two stabilizers – Fusible Fleece and SF101. May need to adjust for vinyl or heavier fabrics.
The top edge can be finished with under-stitching or top-stitching.
One or two interior slip pockets for a card, lipstick, etc. (Not intended to hold a cell phone)
The unique “pinch pleats” on the bottom corners give the bag soft shaping.
A magnetic snap keeps things out of view and secure.
The sew-in lining is fast to turn (birth) and finish the bag.
Advanced features include using vinyl, adding D-ring connectors, adding a turn-lock, and a template for making a pieced front.
