ABOUT THIS PATTERN:

Small bags are very on-trend at the moment. I wanted to design a classy exterior that hid a roomy interior capable of holding “all the things.”

The Lettie Mini Bowler Bag will fit a full-sized wallet, a compact umbrella, a sunglasses case, and all your other essentials hidden inside a classic exterior with options such as an accent panel, chain detailing, and unique strap connectors.

The Lettie is also the perfect size for a little fashionista!

Features:

• Make the exteriors with accent strips in the middle or as a solid.
• Unique strap connectors.
• Add some chain "bling"
• The double zip top opens to a spacious interior.
• Zipper and slip pockets.
• Minimal binding finishes off the inside neatly.

KEEP IN MIND:

• This bag was designed to be made with vinyl, cork, or leather.
• The exterior can be made with a contrasting strip down the center or as one solid color. If you are making it as one solid color, then use the piece labeled BODY LINING (F) to cut out the 2 exterior pieces. In the pattern instructions, the piece will be referred to as BODY EXTERIOR whether using a contrasting strip or not.
• The bag is designed to be structured and to hold its shape well even when empty, but a firm stabilizer on the body isn’t necessary.
• The strap measurement of 18” will give the bag a 6” handle drop, which creates a true handbag that can be carried in the crook of your arm and gives the bag a balanced look. For longer straps, fabric requirements will need to be adjusted for length and to avoid piecing the straps.
• SF101 may cause cotton fabric to draw up or shrink. You may find it useful to “BLOCK FUSE” to the LINING cotton fabric yardage before cutting out your pieces.

MATERIALS:

Fabric amounts provided are for non-directional print and would need to be adjusted if using a directional print or if you are fussy-cutting.

EXTERIOR FABRIC:

• Main fabric – 1/2 yard x at least 32” wide (vinyl, cork, or leather)
• Accent fabric (if using) – 8” x 9’’ piece

LINING FABRIC:

• 1/4 yard x 45’’ wide quilting cotton or similar weight fabric

INTERFACING:

• 1/2 yard x 20’’ wide Pellon SF101 lightweight fusible woven interfacing (or similar)
• 15” x 15” medium-weight stabilizer (like Decovil Light)
• 8” x 8” piece of Pellon Peltex 71F one-sided fusible firm stabilizer (or similar)

NOTIONS:

• (1) 15 1/2” #5 zipper plus 2 pulls
• (1) 7 1/2” #5 zipper plus 1 pull
• (4) 1” D-rings or Square rings
• (8) small post 8mm rivets
• (5) purse feet
• 40” of bias tape
• (1) 5” decorative chain (optional)
• (2) 1/2” D-rings (optional)
• (1) 44” decorative chain strap OR (2) 3/4” swivel clasps and (1) 3/4” slide adjuster (ALL optional)
